Cable RS232

Hi,
I want to connect a "LPC1788 Developer’s Kit" board to my PC. I have RS232 port in both sides. Should i use straight and crossed RS232 cable ? thank you in advance.

I tried to build a code that i have, it work perfectly when i simulate it with Keil Simulator (Device: LPC1788). But when i burn the hex file into board nothing appears.
