Hi, I want to connect a "LPC1788 Developer’s Kit" board to my PC. I have RS232 port in both sides. Should i use straight and crossed RS232 cable ? thank you in advance.
I don't think that Keil will violate that standard on purpose. We also have Keil LPC evaluation boards and connecting the UART to the PC is one of the simplest things to do. I have seen VERY reputable companies violate the standard. Also, I do not think Keil makes (and designs?) their boards, Keil is a software company first and foremost.
anyhow using "I don't think that ,,,," as a design practice can not be recommended.

I asked the idiot (sorry the OP) for details of the board. All he said was "LPC1788 Developer’s Kit". Is that a Keil product? I can't see it mentioned at http://www.keil.com/boards/cortexm.asp
We don't have a clue about the board or where it came from. It could be a cheap Chinese board with the wiring all swapped over.
So all other assumptions are just that. Assumptions.
The bord is "LPC1788 Developer’s Kit", it's an embedded artists product "">www.embeddedartists.com/.../lpc1788_kit.php"
This is what you must do:
1. look-up the pinout of the PC COM port (google);
2. look-up the pinout of the board's RS-232 connector (Please read the manual);
3. you should be able to take it from there...
Get (or make) yourself something like this for checking:

So why aren't you asking Embedded Artists, then?
This has nothing to do with Keil!

It says:
"Included in Kit: ... • Serial number that gives you access to the support site for this product"
So why aren't you using that?!
It does seem a bit perverse that they incude a USB cable - which really is standard - but not an appropriate RS232 cable - of which there are many options & variations!
For pity's sake!
Give it a break man. The question has been answered and you still keep posting these occasional messages, seemingly answering yourself.
