fopen on sd card

I am working on MCB2300 (LPC 2378 processor). I am trying to do some read & write operation on files from SD card. I can do read operation but I am unable to write operation. I am unable to open a file in write mode and always I get an error that file opening failed in write mode. Please let me know what could be the problem

FlashFS is known to have problems with some brands of SD cards (I have witnessed this myself recently and Keil confirmed). Try playing with the clock settings of the MCI peripheral or timeouts in the MCI C driver - no magic solutions exist, unfortunately.

Can you recommend a brand of SD cards which work, also could you recommend a clock setting.
