Hi,
I saw nothing in the manual of any delays on the function get_host_by_name();
For example: if you call the function every minute with the same hostname, the first time, the function retrieves the IP address, after, it gives the ip address memorized. You have to wait 5 minutes for a real request to the server.
it's normal? it's configurable?
thanks.
Why would you want to call this function so often?
"it's normal?"
It's definitely normal to cache up information like this - Look at your ARP table on your PC for example.
"it's configurable?"
Not that I'm aware of.
because I test a lot of things behind. And when I look at the packages in the Wiresharsk software, I was surprised to not see my DNS packets. I thought I had made a mistake. And as there is nothing in the manual, I wanted to ensure that it was normal.
thank you for your quick answers
