P.S. I'm bored
I just did a search on Jack Sprat on this fourm. I had 134 hits. I sampled a number of the posts and found only one instance where Jack contributed any help to the OP. He never was the first to answer a post. He waited and then posted his critique of the person or persons that attempted to answer the original post. Several of the hits are just references to Jack Sprat within the body of the post so we will subtract those out. I found only the one instance where dear old Jack contributed useful information other than quoting the 'C' language specs to at the person attempting to answer the original post. I readily admit that I did not peruse all 134 and my sampling technique might well be suspect but I gleaned enough information to declare Jack Sprat only a simple minded troll. Bradford

There are plenty of people on the forum who seem to have sufficient time to answer lots of posts, I generally leave that to them. If notice a post from one of the 'experts', however, that contains incorrect information I will usually correct it as very few others will.
Imagine yourself sitting in class. The teacher gets something wrong - would you prefer to carry on believing that incorrect thing for months or years or would you prefer another student to offer the teacher a correction?
And, ok, I have a bit of fun with the lunatic fringe but hey - why not? They seem to be big enough and 'experienced' enough in the ways of the world to look after themselves. I leave the newbies and the young chaps alone.
"...quoting the 'C' language specs..."
Given some of the questions that pop up on this forum, I'd say that this sort of response is invaluable. They shouldn't be knocked.
I consider myself to be fairly competent when it comes to embedded systems and the use of compilers (at least, in the field in which I work), but like to see some of Jack Sprats responses if only because they occasionally makes me stop, think and pick up my reference manuals.
I hasten to add that Jack is not alone in this regard. There are a few other forum posters around here that sometimes make me do the same.
You see, Jack, this is the embodiment of some people's problem with you. You seem to think that the "newbies and the young chaps" and the "lunatic fringe" (these were your own words, yes?) do not have anything to contribute, ergo deserve to be ignored. I, however, believe that their biggest drawback is the lack of experience and depth when analyzing problems alongside too little time, but you wipe them of the table because "they are not interesting enough and I have nothing to learn from them" (I am sure you are wrong, at least in some of the cases). When you do enlighten us with your opinion, it is usually done in a arrogant way without the slightest of knowledge about the people involved (except their posts, that can often be misunderstood). This approach is a recipe for a limited and insular existence.

I'm afraid not, what follows the above sentence is actually your opinion.
You seem to think that the "newbies and the young chaps" and the "lunatic fringe" (these were your own words, yes?)
Yes, those are my words but...
do not have anything to contribute, ergo deserve to be ignored.
...that is your interpretation of them.
I, however, believe that their biggest drawback is the lack of experience and depth when analyzing problems alongside too little time
Fine, but...
but you wipe them of the table because "they are not interesting enough and I have nothing to learn from them"
...there you go again inventing thoughts for me to have.
When you do enlighten us with your opinion, it is usually done in a arrogant way without the slightest of knowledge about the people involved (except their posts, that can often be misunderstood).
Now you've summed things up very nicely: all anyone has are the posts on the forum which can indeed be misunderstood. Anything further than that is just the readers opinion. This is why, if one wishes to be understood as one wishes, it is essential to consider those posts carefully to ensure that they convey what one wants. Slap dash or ludicrous posts will not win one any credibility, and if one worries about things like credibility on internet forums then one is unlikely to enjoy the consequences of making those posts. Interestingly enough credibility seems to be very important to some posters yet their posts just become weirder and weirder - something of an oddity, do you not think?
This approach is a recipe for a limited and insular existence.
Seems to work for me...!
Good sleuthing Al Bradford. I think we all had our suspicions and its nice to know that you did the footwork for us.
As to the sardine: google "BILE URA" and then tack on Youtube in your second google attempt. Have a listen. Yes, I'm into HEAVY metal, and URA reminds me of you.
I know those are harsh words, but after awhile, I kind of get sick of your constant vitriol. Yet at other times I enjoy it. I guess I'm trying to say stop-it and keep it up at the same time.
But why high-jack a thread and turn it into a fight-fest ALL of the time? (err, most of the time as per Al Bradford's research).
I think Tamir's assessment was spot-on.
OMG. The ultimate irony.

They may seem that way to you, Vince, but really, they aren't. I think I might pass on your suggestion that I listen to 'Bile Ura', by the way.

There really are people who could help you with this sort of thing, you know. You don't have to live with this confusion.
I'm sure he'll be glad to hear that. But which assessment was it - do I fix radios, make weapons, or what?
OMG, Steve. You have bad teeth!
Do Keil ever test anything they release? I'm beginning to have doubts...
Here's a deployed release of RTX in full-flight!

"World peace achieved by US military"
The big questin here? Someone leaves an access hatch open during a torpedo test, and you use this as a way to somehow blame Keil. Why?
The video is very funny but in what way was RTX causing this misshap?
