LPC2478 USB Host circuit design considerations

Hi, I am using LPC2478 USB Host functionality in one of my project. I have proved the code and working functionality with absolutely no error in Olimex STK board.

Now, I have a question on Host schematic design in Olimex STK. I just wanted to know why LM3526 USB Power switch is been used in Olimex STK board for USB Host functionality? If it is just an over-current protection feature and if I am able to manage over-current protection some how out side, is it okay if I omit LM3526 from my design?

Please consider USB Host circuit design for AT91SAM9261 from Atmel. (http://www.keil.com/dd/docs/datashts/atmel/at91sam9261_dc.pdf). Look into Page 545, 548 of above doc, device connection is automatically detected by the USB host port logic. Please let me know why in Atmel USB host design they don't need LM3526 or any USB Power Switch?
Thanks in advance,
