Interfacing modem to microcontroller

Hello everybody,
I am monitoring a status of a sensor interfaced to P89V51RD2(8 bit controller)and want to send a SMS to any mobile number fed into the controller.But i am not getting the GSM modems in which i will insert a sim card and can be interfaced to my board.Can anybody of u provide me some links or Lists of GSM modems which can be selected for this purpose.

  • Such a list would be very long - especially since there are a huge number of obsolete models out there, that can be had for a low cost, but isn't suitable for mass-production.

    Most mobile phone manufactureras (and a number of other manufacturers) produces GSM modules for embedded usage, i.e. supposed mount directly on a PCB. They normally interface with a uC using a TTL-level serial interface or USB.

    Besides that, all better mobile phones may be used as GSM modems with a suitable adapter cable.

    Contact one of the distributors for the major brands, and don't forget that you also need to get the required documentation of the command set.
