Bicolor 8x8 Led DotMatrix Display - How ?

I want to drive 12 unit 8x8 Bicolor LED DotMatrix.
What is the algorithm for this ?
I just want color change. Red to Green or
Green to Red. Not same time displaying. Maybe with blue.

i have a related proyect 'bout dot matrix
'but its's for 8051 with driwing technics..

I need a little help to build my basic system for 8051 (i don't like the xternal RAMs and ROMs)

    Yes, more shades are possible. The OP seems to have specified red xor green or possibly a gradient from red to green or the reverse. Exact interpretation impossible, since the post was too fuzzy. I did select to write an answer based on the red xor green interpretation.

    I most definitely did not forget black. I noted 8 combinations for a three-color LED, and was wondering where the blue would come from in a two-color red/green LED.

    I was listing the combinations that the OP seemed to be thinking about: "I just want color change. Red to Green or
    Green to Red" which seems to imply one of two alternatives:
    A) Exacly one LED is always on.
    B) He want to be able to gradually change from red to green or from green to red.
