Trouble with AT89C51ED2

i have bought a mini-board that has an ICP connection and was trying to program it using keil uvision3. since i use my laptop, i had to interface the USB with RS232, so i used USB to DB9 serial port. First question, i am not sure if the keil would recognize the target board mentioned below through this USB adapter. the second question is for this kind of programming what kind of configuration (flash configuration) in keil software i should use ? what is ULINK ?

kindest regards

  • USB to serials generally DO NOT WORK for program development tools, but many posts have stated the few such devices available that are based on the FTDI chip DO work. Unfortunately, not many manufacturers list which chip is inside.

at the flash magic forum they are in the process of compiling a list of brands that work and brands that do not.
