I read in one of the on-line reviews that this book is written targeting one of the SiLabs Development kits. Can anyone tell me which kit is being used?
This book is generic and already quite old. It does not provide information about specific 8051 devices.
I can not answer the specific question, but were I to teach the '51 to a group I would use the SILabs C8051F120DK

"This book is generic and already quite old."
According to Amazon.com, it's June 2004 - so not cutting-edge, but should be valid as a "generic" 8051 book.
"It does not provide information about specific 8051 devices."
The Author himself writes, "As the author, I am prejudiced, but this new version offers most all the information of the previous books along with 1/3 more material on networking and serial communication. It has been completely revised to begin with the basics of C programming while emphasizing modular programming and realtime concepts. Based on the $99 target development kits (complete with emulator and Keil compiler) from Silicon Labs, this book provides a perfect way to get started or expand your skills in embedded microcontroller development."

Unhelpfully, he doesn't say which particular "target development kit" he's talking about! :-(
But there's a very easy way to find out: just buy the book!
