Unused I/O

What is the recommendations when you have a unused port? Make it a input or output or it doesn't matter?

  • you do not specify the part, so i have to GUESS that you are using one of the newer derivatives with configurable ports. If not, you are mistaken, the traditional port can not be 'made input' ot 'made output'. For the traditional port, write a '1' to it if power is a concern, else write a 0 for noise sensitivity suppression.

for CHIPS WITH CONFIGURABLE PORTS: if power is a concern, make it input and tie the pin to ground, if a couple of mA is not a problem make the port push-pull and let the pin float.
