I doubt it, he keep insisting that the answer has to be with his specific '51 derivative and his specific eeprom.. Clearly he does not (think he does) have the ability to use something written for another derivative.

IMHO, there is usually a direct correlation between one's design skills and their problem solving skills. Given such a low aptitude for finding an 8051/I2C/EEPROM solution, especially when it's so "deadly" urgent, I can only hope that he's not designing some gizmo that I end up buying.
