However i don't know how to write the codes ... can anyone help mi pls? when you were a little boy, you did not know how to add 7 and 11. You had to learn it. now you "don't know how to write the codes" I suppose you can guess the answer. mandatory reading 1) "the bible" 2) the Keil getting started guide Erik here are the links to "the bible" Chapter 1 http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/various/80C51_FAM_ARCH_1.pdf chapter 2 http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/various/80C51_FAM_PROG_GUIDE_1.pdf chapter 3 http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/various/80C51_FAM_HARDWARE_1.pdf I do not have the link to the getting started guide handy, but it is found here at Keil.com

"I do not have the link to the getting started guide handy, but it is found here at Keil.com" It is included when you install the tools - including the free download version. If you get the free CD, there are also some videos showing you how to use the tools. There are several "Hello, world" examples (using the UART) amongst the downloads: http://www.keil.com/download/list/c51.htm
"how to write the codes for the 8051 to read the char sent by VB." The fact that it comes from VB is entirely irrelevant. Once set up correctl, The 8051 UART simply receives whatever serial data appears at its input - it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever whether that data came from VB, hypoterminal, another 8051, or whatever...
