is there anyone who want to sell his licence for Cx51 development tools? is there any web site that do such thing - market for used tools, old license ?
"Does this cause problems when development hardware is upgraded?" I presume you meant the host development hardware? Yes, it would. As I understand it, you need a valid, current licence to "unlock" the tools during installation - otherwise you just get the limited, evaluation versions. Once the tools are installed, they won't expire - but you won't be able to update or re-install them beyond the licence end date, and you won't get support from Keil (they ask for the serial number). You do get a bit of grace beyond the stated expiry date, but all good things must come to an end... "I fear my colleagues will suffer similar problems when they receive new machines." Maybe now would be a good time to start speaking sweetly to the very nice people on the Keil sales line... ;-)
Hi, If for eg. your licence is valid for the whole of 2003, if you have kept the latest update d/l for your support period then I dont think there should be any problems transfering the s/w to a new machine. You can't update to the very latest as keil dont allow you to d/l it! and as you need a dongle to use the s/w, I beleive these are the only restrictions when moving to a new pc. Mark.
"I beleive these are the only restrictions when moving to a new pc." I don't think so. I think that installing a full version of the software requires a licence key that is valid at the time of installation. So a 2003 licence key will be no good for installing (or re-installing) the software in 2005. I don't think it makes any difference whether you have a dongled or un-dongled version in this respect. I could, of course, be wrong - for the full story, consult Keil direct.
