Not able to Program P89LPC921 using MCB900 in ISP mode

Hello,
I'm using MCB900 Version 4.0 board as ISP programmer. I was able to program P89LPC935 on board chip using Flash Magic Version 2.07.

But then I remove P89LPC935 from the board and use 5 Pin connection (Vdd,Vss,Txd,Rxd,RST) to program P89LPC921 using Flash Magic, Flash Magic was not able to communicate with device.

Does anybody know how to solve this?

  • Where on the MCB900 did you make the connections to the device? I assume you are not placing it in the PLCC socket. The connections should come from either the PLCC socket or the DIL pinout next to the prototyping area. Connecting anywhere else will bypass the needed circuitry for placing the device into ISP mode.

You must also select the correct device in Flash Magic.

Look at the Flash Magic application note regading hardware ISP entry using DTR and RTS. In it there is a description of the MCB900 circuit and waveforms that should be appearing. If it doesn't work then use a scope to find the fault in the circuit.
