My C51 compiler (part of PK51) in version 5.1 does no longer run after the workstation has upgraded to XP Professional (from W98). Whether started from a command line or from the IDE, the compiler will hang indefinitely. Any patches or thoughts?

You should take this as a warning. If you're going to stick with the old tools, you need to consider how you can manintain compatible systems to run them on. To move to current tools you will have to plan the migration carefully, and how you will test that nothing gets broken in the process. Neither option is easy - but you need make a decision before it's too late!
Thanks for your messages. Although I have requested the suggested driver to get going quickly, I have also put a new version (rev. 7.50) on order. However, knowing our internal bureaucracy, this will take several weeks to happen. regards, Jan
