Hi, I would like to know whether there is a limitation in the number of segment control specifications (or in the totoal number of characters used for such specifications, or in the length of a *.lin file, or else) which can be presented to the LX51. The reason behind is that we are currently developing an ASIC with an embedded 8051 and an internal 32kB ROM plus external 32kB EEPROM. Most of the code will be put into the ROM, but once the design is freezed in order to send it out for manufacture, any change to the ROM code is impossible. Hence from then on every single segment in the ROM must be located individually by a segment locator control. Once a part of the code in the ROM proves to be buggy in the tests with the real ASIC, it can be replaced by new code in the EEPROM. So it would be wise to divide the ROM code into a lot of small segments, which do not cost much area when they happen to be replaced. However, we must be sure that so many segments can be treated properly by segment locator controls. Best Regards Joachim
I think you should probably be addressing this one direct to Keil support?
