I am trying to run the C51 version 5 compiler on a Windows 2000 Professional machine. When c51.exe is invoked in a DOS box, the box hangs. I have made the settings, described in http://www.keil.com/download/files/nt_uvwin.pdf, but UVWINRUN.EXE hangs and C51.exe hangs. There is no difference, if the dongle is connected to LPT1 or not. Does anyone know a way round this problem to allow C51 V5.x to run on a Window 2000?
C51 V5 was released in 1994 (5 years before Windows 2000 was available). C51 V7 is the current release. It works with all current windows platforms (2K/XP/NT/98). There have been hundreds of new features added since V5--not to mention the number of new 8051 chips that have been developed since that time. Perhaps it's time to upgrade. Jon
You need an security key driver for Windows NT/2000/XP. Just email your full address, the serial number and version number of your product to: support.intl@keil.com and ask for the Windows NT/2000/XP driver. However, you should consider an upgrade of your very old software too.
Have you tried the dongle test utilities from the support section of this site?
