Product: Trail verion of UVision2 Operating system: Windows XP Problem: When UVision2 was started, it froze at the splash screen. Solution: Go to Windows explorer and highlighted the file Uv2.exe. Then chose "Properties." Next chose the "compatibility" tab. And then set this program to run in Windows 95 mode. Warning: There is a fix for this problem, for Windows NT, on this site which tells you to download and run a help file update. According to Microsoft, you should not run this update if you are using Windows XP. (And I believe Windows 2000 as well.)
What version of the Keil tools did you install? We have the tools running here on several Windows XP machines. Since the tools are fully compatible with XP, there is no reason to run them in Windows 95 mode. Jon
The uVision2 that I am using is V2.20a evaluation version. But I did download C51, c166, and c251 evaluation versions. Since I just downloaded it, it is probably the most recent version. A few days ago I purchased a book on embedded programming with C which came with a CD. The CD had uVision2, c166, c251, and c51 on it along with other tools. When I tried to run the uVision2 program that I installed from the disk, I had that same problem. That is why I went to the site and downloaded straight from there. And yes, I did uninstall, completely, the original uVision2 program. And I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times.
