8051 single board computer as
A. a SMS to internet or
B. other cell phone which connect to a notebook with RS-232 visual basic

temperature?

The whole is that I am not sure and I cannot correct myself if the right path of doing the later part.

Well, I connect my Nokia phone to my laptop to update contacts and to do lists. So, I'm pretty sure you can do it with an 8051, too.

As for your other questions, it appears that you have a lot of information and links already.

If I were going to do this, I would simply hook the phone up to a dumb terminal (or terminal program) and try some of the commands and see what happens.
