Slow builds with uVision for Windows V1.32 and NT

I have a NT worksation 900Mhz PIII and the compile times are over 40 minutes. If I compile on a Win98 PII Notebook the compile times are 7 minutes.

I can not upgrade to the latest version of the compiler. I am stuck on Version 1.32 This version appears to be a Win16 program. I can not find any settings in the shortcut to change to improve the compile times. I can not find any setting in the IDE of the compiler to improve the settings.

The NT Task manager appears to indicate the compiler is waiting for something at the end of each files compile. The CPU usage is around zero most of the time.

No other processes are running during the compile.

  • Hi there Robert,

When you say no sentinel drivers, I take it you mean you've got the USA version or similar which I've been told has no dongle.

When you say you can't upgrade, I assume this
is from an expense point of view.

It might still be worth trying the new up to
date version to see what the effects are - perhaps download a trial version, and try compiling a small piece of code. That way you could at least find if this was your problem, and with no money having to be spent.
