6.20 - last news

Few days ago, I got a problem with the 6.20 version of C51 keil Software, like you can see on http://www.keil.com/forum/msgpage.asp?MsgID=3260 .

Keil support found what's append and send me a mail with a new version of OH51 (v 2.6) that correct the error due to the long NAME statement that I am using.

And, thanks Andrew to help me to find my problem.

  • The latest release is 6.20c. We continually update the product, add new features, and fix problems. Each time we build a new .EXE, it gets a new revision letter (a, b, c, d, e, ...).

    When we make a formal release, we update the minor version number and FIX the release. If a release has a .EXE with a letter suffix (like 6.20c) it is because we made a single minor change before a release but after we had announced or "fixed" the release version number.

    With all the users and all the chip vendors, we are constantly adding features and support for new chips, so, this numbering system will never change.

    For a brief list of all the chips we currently support, check http://www.keil.com/dd/chiplist.asp

  • But Jon, that didn't answer Jon's (!) problem, which he has aired before in this forum:

    It's difficult to find out what the latest release is.

    eg, I know that the latest BL51.exe is now v4.21; but if I go to your Updates page, it still just lists v6.20.

    Similarly, when I downloaded "C51 v6.20," it contained C51.exe at v6.20;
    I have since received an update to v6.20b, and now I hear that there's a v6.20c!

    Is there any way to obtain just these components with the "minor updates," rather than having to download the whole 10MB package?!

  • Similarly, It's very difficult to find the difference between, say, C51 v6.20b and v6.20c

    In fact, you can't even find the differences between v6.20 and v6.14; I've done a side-by-side file compare on the release notes, and the only difference is that all the occurrences of "6.14" have been changed to "6.20!"

    Where did you download this from? The only V6.20 update that's been on http://www.keil.com has included C51 V6.20c.

    Oh. That's simple. Go to http://www.keil.com/update

    If you have heard about a release and it's not listed there, it's not an official release.
