8051 Bootloader

does anybody have a good online refrence with information on writing a boot loader for 8051 MCU's to write to external flash memory?

This is an application note for H8S Serial Bootloader With Xmodem Data Transfer.

I guess this can be ported to 8051.

why not just use a derivative such as the P89C51Rx2/P89C66x with built in bootloaders
