hello everyone,
Actually i am a beginner in the field of ARM.. and i am trying port a uclinux kernel on any of the ARM controller but the development boards available with me lpc2378,2148,2400 series none of them are having enough flash or ram in it.. could you advise me too choose any one ARM based controller which is suitable for uclinux kernel porting..
Hi,
Welcome to the ARM family!
This page is a bit old, but it gives details of available ucLinux ports to various devices.
http://www.uclinux.org/ports/
If you follow the links there, I think you will find several manufacturers who provide boards which will run ucLinux.
Hope this helps.
Chris
Hi Chris,
The information and the links you provided were helpful, but that would help me in building the Linux kernel and configuring it.. but I still cant find the whether development boards available with me( LPC2378,CORTEXM3 , CORTEXM4, AND LPC2468) can be ported with the Linux kernel without the external flash or external ram..and if anyone of them can be then which is the best of the lot in performance..
I don't know any chips which would have sufficient ram and flash on-chip for uClinux so it would have to be on the board, and you already know what the chips you listed are like, so I'm not sure what you mean by external flash and ram. Perhaps you are thinking of ad-on boards for some basic board? If you don't limit yourself to those particular chips there are lots of boards with more than enough ram and flash on-board for your needs.
I had a quick look on the web and
Linux for Cortex-M: STM32, LPC, Kinetis, and SmartFusion - Emcraft Systems
seems to be a company who specialize in this sort of thing. Have you had a look at what they provide?
