PTM macrocell use case

Hi,
    Can anyone let me know one use case or application where, how PTM (trace source) macrocell is used in their SoC?

    The typical use case is generating instruction trace which can be read by debug tools such as the ARM DStream unit.

           Thanks for the information. Can you please let me know any white paper or techinical paper which used PTM as their trace source?
    I havent found any technical paper which used PTM as their trace source?
