Ds-5 installation

Hi everyone,

I have installed Ds-5 community on a windows 7 ultimate machine. Installation seems to complete successfully, but when I launch Eclipse it failes and I get the message:

Could not read environment file C:\Program Files\DS-5 CE v5.27.0\sw\info\env.ini: Operation not permitted

Any ideas?

Thanks!

  • Hi ,

I have moved your post to the Software Tools community as they may be best placed to answer your question.

    Thanks

    Ryan

  • Did you install DS-5 using Administrator permissions?
Are you running DS-5 with Administrator permissions?
DS-5 needs to be installed and run with Administrator permissions in order to work correctly.

Is there an env.ini file in "C:\Program Files\DS-5 CE v5.27.0\sw\info"?
DS-5 does need this file to be present in order to run correctly.

Some times this error can occur if the installer was corrupted or incomplete.  You might want to try doing a clean installation of DS-5 by:

    - Uninstalling your current DS-5 installation
    - Deleting any DS-5 folders in your User directory
    - Restarting your computer
    - Checking the DS-5 CE installer is correct
    - Re-installing DS-5 CE

  • Thank you for your reply.

Yes I run as an Administrator. The env.ini file is also there in the info folder. I have tried to reinstall few times. I even try with another version of DS-5 with the same result.

I think it might be a windows compatibility issue. I tried with win10 and it is working.

  • Well, DS-5 is only compatible with the below OS platforms:

    • Windows 10, 64-bit
    • Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64-bit
    • Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1, 64-bit
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Workstation, 64-bit
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Workstation, 64-bit
    • Ubuntu Desktop Edition 12.04 LTS, 64-bit
    • Ubuntu Desktop Edition 14.04 LTS, 64-bit

If you open a "DS-5 <version> Command Prompt", do the environment variable settings from the command prompt match the variables in the env.ini file?

Are you opening Eclipse using a desktop shortcut?

If so, it might be worth starting Eclipse from the "DS-5 <version> Command Prompt" and seeing whether the error still happens.

  • Hi, I have encountered exactly the same issue with my DS-5 development studio, i.e. when starting 'eclipse.exe' on Win10, got a dialog popped out with the message "Could not read environment file C:\...\ds5\win_64\r5p0-27rel0\sw\info\env.ini": Operation not permitted".  I am already using Windows10 64-bit, could anyone with similar issue please share his experience to resolve it?
