RVI - OMAP4

Note: This was originally posted on 10th May 2011 at http://forums.arm.com

According to the RVI web-page (http://www.arm.com/p...rs/rvi-rvt2.php), "Run control debug unit supporting all ARM and Cortex processors".

My OMAP4 Cortex A-9 will not connect to RealView 4.0 with RVI.  Is this processor supported?

    Hi James,

When we claim that RVI supports "all ARM processors", it refers ARM processor cores such as ARM926EJ-S, Cortex-A8 or the Cortex-A9 inside the OMAP4.

Some chips such as the OMAP4 require "special support" in the debugger to unlock access to the JTAG scanchains and debug logic on the chip, and connect the debugger to the ARM processors inside it.Support for these devices is added as they become available.

OMAP4 will be supported as part of DS-5 (www.arm.com/ds5) towards the end of this month, and RVDS v4.1 sp2 in June. Both RVDS and DS-5 support JTAG debug and ETB trace with the RVI unit.

    Best regards, Javier
