I have commented
GPDMA_CH1_LLI = 0 ; in "init_channel" so that it does not override a previous setting but it still does not work. Any ideas...?

For the sake of completeness: there is nothing really wrong with this code (although the linked list is not really required). The problem was a startup order issue - one processor started slightly before the other, which caused data loss.
