Fixed Virtual Platform Usage

Hi Experts,

In DS-5 does the usage of Fixed Virtual Platform is free or only available under trial licensing ?

I want to load a Linux Kernel code even without trial licensing being installed.  Is it possible to do so ?

  • Hi techguyz,

Use of the FVP platforms shipped with DS-5 relies on DS-5 being licensed. Using the bundled FVPs outside DS-5 with no licensing management (either a DS-5, FVP or Fast Models license) will mean they refuse to run.

There is an FVP you can use outside of DS-5 - although it isn't debuggable except in a limited fashion - the Foundation Model. There exist device trees and kernel support for the Foundation Model just as certain FVP platforms are well supported (Linaro have some regularly released kernels and filesystem images).
