I'm attempting to use the old ADS 1.2 to compile some firmware for my old robot (wowwee rovio). I have ADS 1.2 installed but nothing will work since it doesn't have a licence file.
I know there is documentation on how to get a licence however I have filled out the license request form and emailed it only to find that I cannot send any emails to the address listed in the file as it requires you to be on a whitelist.
Can you still get licences for ADS 1.2? If so how do I acquire one?
(this might be a stupid question... but I'm just a hobbyist and this program is very old and I am finding it very difficult to find any guides/explanations other than the ones on arm's website)
Thanks for such a fast response!
If evaluation licenses are no longer available, is there a way around it or is ADS 1.2 unusable without one?
Unfortunately I do not know if my project is compatible with newer versions of ADS since the source code I am working on was written in c2005, if I cannot get ADS 1.2 to work at all then I may try a newer version as a last ditch effort.(it will certainly be easier to work with a new version!)Ill open a support case about this...
this is the error message i get when attempting to compile.
Yes, please open a Support case.

I attempted to open a support case but it would appear as though I cannot open a support case for ADS 1.2. Apparently Arm classifies it as HPC and handles support requests for HPC through the HPC forum rather than allowing support cases for it. So I went and made a post there anyway... but I would have rather started a support case...
Here's my post on the HPC forum community.arm.com/.../arm-developer-studio-1-2-licence-issue
Hi there. I'm Christian and I also work at Arm.
Best thing to do is open a support case for Arm Development Studio and just explain your issue. That way it will get picked up by the team who can potentially help you build your code in Arm Development Studio, if an evaluation license of ADS 1.2 cannot be provided (which I suspect is the case).
Sounds like the best thing to do. The only issue is that in order to create a support case for Arm Development Studio, a serial number for Arm Development Studio is required.
I do not have an Arm Development Studio serial number however I have installed Arm Development Studio on my computer, I currently do not have a license for it although as soon as that part of the website is running again (I believe it is under maintenance as it will not work online or in the setup wizard for Arm Development Studio) I will get a license.I believe you need a license file in order to find a serial number for Arm Development Studio (correct me if I am wrong and there is a way to view the serial number without a license), which would mean I need to wait until I can get a license. Therefore all said, I cannot create a support case for Arm Development Studio without a serial number for it (unless there is a way around that) and currently I do not have a serial number.
Hi Hobbes_
If you have installed Arm DS and configured the 30 day evaluation license you should be able to find your serial number by looking in the license file on your PC. The ARMLMD_LICENSE_FILE environment variable will point you to where this file is. So, to find it:
set ARMLMD_LICENSE_FILE
echo $ARMLMD_LICENSE_FILE
This should give you the path to your license file. Once you have found it open it in any text editor and the serial number should be visibile in the form: LMXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXXXXX.
You should then be able to use this to raise a support case.
For more detailed information, there is also a knowledge base article on finding your serial number here: https://developer.arm.com/documentation/ka005158/1-0/?lang=en
Please reply again here if you are unable to open a case. :)
All the best,Christian.
Hi again, Hobbes_
As you are having trouble accessing the license server at present, I have raised a case for you internally and have flagged it to the team who can help.
Someone should be in touch with you via the case (which you should be able to view here: support.developer.arm.com/.../)
