Effects of newer version of MDK-ARM compiler onto firmware already in production (beginner’s question)

I was tasked with overseeing and potentially, maintenance of a firmware package (LPC1788 and LPC2478) built with MDK-ARM 5.10. I noticed that the latest version is 5.34 of March 15, 2021:

Q1: Is there any problem to use the latest MDK-ARM? Where can I read more about it?

Q2: MDK-ARM 5.10 still available for download?

Thank you,

Eugene L.

  • Q1: Would you be more specific, please?

I read through MDK 5.33 release notes (the latest I could find online) but nothing stood out to me as breaking changes.

From my experience with other compilers (Microchip C, GCC) I know that advancing to the latest version causes no adverse effects… I don’t have any experience with MDK, please help.

Q2: Company has Node-Locked license that is currently used by a sub-contractor. We’re planning on purchasing new Floating-User license. Does this mean we won’t be able to use version of MDK older than the year we purchased its license?

    Thank you,
