This September, researchers, academics, students and industry experts will gather in Austin, Texas for the fourth annual Arm Research Summit. The Summit is a unique event which focuses on the latest technology developments and challenges across a broad range of research areas. This year’s theme is ‘Discovery Through Diversity – Addressing Tomorrow’s Challenges, Together’, and focuses on the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration to solve ever more complex research and industry challenges.

Our keynote speakers from Stanford University, UCSB and NIST will be speaking on topics including Architecture in the Post-Moore era, Devices-as-services and the new Internet as a ‘Platform of Things’, and upcoming disruptions in IT and Cybersecurity. Kunle Olukotun, Rich Wolski and Matthew Scholl are highly regarded experts in their fields and we look forward to welcoming them to this year’s Summit. This year’s Summit is split across multiple tracks, so delegates have the opportunity to attend sessions most relevant to them and their interests. Whether you’re interested in hardware, software, machine learning, edge computing, the IoT, HPC, circuits or memory – there’s a session for you. We have presenters from around the world joining us with both talks and posters to talk about their research and findings – expect to see early-stage projects, new technologies and breakthroughs, as well as interesting panel discussions on a range of topics.
As well as the many presentations taking place across the Summit, you also have the chance to attend a choice of workshops to take a deeper dive into particular research topics. Early arrivals to the Summit will benefit from Sunday’s workshop, ‘Impact of Arm Hardware from an HPC Application Perspective’, and across the other Summit days you can find out how Arm can support your research projects in the SoC Labs session, attend the ever-popular Arm HPC user group workshop, or discover how levels of abstraction need to be renegotiated post-Moore. If that wasn’t enough, there are opportunities to join focused Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions, and demos enabling you to explore technology in more detail.
As reflected in this year’s Summit theme, Arm Research truly values the importance of collaboration. That’s why the program includes plenty of opportunities for you to meet peers, potential new project partners or specialists in alternative fields to ask their opinions of your research direction. In previous years, a majority of our attendees reported that their planned research direction had changed as a result of the Summit. Whether it’s making new connections or discovering new developments, it’s a great opportunity to expand your network or the scope of your research.
