We live in bizarre times and it seems that the COVID-19 pandemic will change they way we think and work. Cloud computing is one of the existing trends that are accelerating.
Last week, I prepared for my keynote talk at the Embedded World Conference: Get more productivity with Cloud services. Many embedded applications are still created on desktop computers as primarily the validation process relies frequently on target hardware. However there is a shift in the industry and during my talk you learn how cloud-based tools can help to improve the development flow for embedded projects.
We have been working on our next generation tooling for a while. Cost savings can be achieved by relocating software development tool environments at least partially to the cloud. The new tools will therefore support a dual approach: cloud and desktop. During my talk I show you Keil Studio which we will first deploy as a cloud version. It can load projects created with the classic desktop version, Keil MDK. This gives development teams the flexibility to adopt cloud technology over time.
Cloud computing has benefits for embedded software development in the following areas:
So do not forget to add my talk to your calendar at Embedded World:
If you cannot make it to my talk, maybe you can join the expert panel session: Safe for the future on Tuesday, 2 March, 15:30 CET. Here I discuss with other industry experts topics around functional safety and security as this will become incrementally a core requirement for many applications.
And finally, remember that many other Arm colleagues discuss interesting topics at the Embedded World Conference that is digital this year. We look forward to seeing you virtually at this industry-leading conference. And until we can meet in person again: stay safe and healthy.
