Save development time and reduce complexity with free system guidance

Arm today announced its free system guidance to help you save time and reduce complexity, with key system configurations analysed for mobile and infrastructure PPA targets.

New from Arm - system guidance

For decades Arm has been supplying semiconductor IP to our partners - over the years our collection of IP has grown and expanded. Arm’s IP now includes CPU’s, GPU’s, Interconnects, Memory Controllers, Security products, Tools, Training, IoT solutions and much, much more. The real challenge for SoC designers in 2017 is fitting this all together, moving away from single pieces of IP and creating fully functioning, efficient systems.

Arm has been more than just an IP supplier – for many years our in-house teams have been working together to create, validate and optimise compute subsystems. We’ve carried out extensive internal work to ensure we can provide our partners with all the information they need to develop SoC’s faster with less risk. Arm’s representative systems have each been designed and tested to meet various Power, Performance and Area (PPA) targets. All of the complex research has now been packaged together to create system guidance, which we’re sharing with you today. System guidance provides you with free additional information to help you design mobile and infrastructure systems. System guidance can dramatically reduce time-to-market and has been shown to reduce SoC HW development by months on complex server designs.

What is system guidance?

System guidance is made up of three key elements: documentation, Fixed Virtual Platform (FVP) and an integrated software stack. The documentation includes everything you need to get started (including System Design presentations, a Technical Overview of the hardware and software components, a System Analysis Report which documents the RTL emulation performance results, the Implementation Guidelines which outline the physical implementation work and a FVP Programmers Guide. You can also access a model of the system, a Fixed Virtual Platform plus a reference software stack running on that model, which includes build scripts and patches for Open Source.

How do I access system guidance?

By making use of Arm’s system guidance you can gain confidence that all the Arm IP works well together. You can quickly take Arm’s knowledge on board and focus more on differentiation. System guidance is available now for free, all you need to do is contact your partner manager. You can also get some information about our system guidance on our new web pages below. Why not leverage Arm’s key learnings and get your product to market quicker?
