The Winner of the ARM Step Challenge at 51st DAC is ....

"What escalator?"

"What elevator?"

"Can I give you a walking demo instead?"

I've finally come to the point where I don't feel guilty for giving my feet a rest - and this is most likely true for all of those that participated in the Who's the most fit DACer #ARMStepChallenge. There were 17 participants (15 ARM Connected Community Pavilion Partners and 2 ARM employees) that were armed with an ARM Cortex-M3 based Fitbit device to track each step they took during the event.

The competition lived up to all of the pre-show buzz and the banter was non-stop throughout the week at DAC - participants were seen taking media interviews and conference calls on the treadmill in the ARM Connected Community Pavilion and instead of taking cabs to the sponsored after-show events, you would see them hiking the hills of San Francisco to their destination.

Sonics' tiffanyquan was the eventual winner of the ARM Step Challenge, walking over 58,000 steps (which is equal to walking the Golden Gate Bridge 29 times) over the course of three days, Monday through Wednesday. Congratulations to Tiffany for taking the title and she has set some high expectations for herself next year.

You can view a list of the Top 10 finishers below as well as some of the #ARMStepChallenge posts via social media. Don't forget to read all the 51dac content in the community. A big thank you to all of the participants!

Great competition. Great competitors. I thought I had a great day 2 around 16K, then I saw Heinlein at 25K steps. I’m still thinking that Heinlein and Fuller might have used an “alternate” approach (see below). Glad to see one of the first practical, mainstream IoT devices put to good use!

Rematch? Did someone say rematch? Besting Heinlein, Nemire and Dworsky will make this a truly celebratory weekend (feet up on a recliner). But I still can't stop waking up in the middle of night with Heinlein's voice in my head! Serious shrink time is needed to work on that issue, but that video is forthcoming...

My congratulations to Tiffany who rocked this competition!

What a fantastic idea for this community , and I look forward to participating in the future. I bow in the general direction of the ARM Community and its creative energy!

Thanks for including us in this!

I would remind you that I literally took my fitbit off my wrist because I left SF.  So to make it fair I stopped counting my steps.  With that in mind, three partners beat me fair and square!
