QEI on MCB2900

Hi I got a mcb2900 board with NXP LPC2919 inside I start to investigate about the QEI (Quadrature Encoder Interface) of LPC2919 But I found out that inside lpc29xx.h there isn't any definitions...

Has anyone tried the I2C example bundled with the MCB2900 demo board? I'm trying it now and it keeps failing with "I2C0 WRITE FAIL" coming up on the LCD. The file 'abstract.txt' in the code bundle...
