Is there a real need to list poster's e-mail addresses on this forum? I'm asking about this so that we can correctly update our privacy policy and additionally, so we can prevent spam. What do you think? Jon
There are good reasons to ask posters to provide their email addresses when posting, but I don't see any need to display them. Any poster who wants his email address to appear with his message can simply add it to the message. -- Gary Culp
I'd agree with Gary. To support that, could you enhance the site so that "mailto:" automatically becomes a hotlink? (like it currently does with web addresses) Maybe you could introduce a "User Profiles" feature (like some other boards have) where users could provide a resume of whatever information they wish to reveal about themselves?
Not everyone wants to advertise which company they work for when asking questions. This can be for commercial reasons in other cases they may not be permitted to by the company. Ie government or military projects.
I agree. Don't display emails but, maybe for yoursake, don't allow anyone to post that doesn't have a vailid email. - Mark
OK - E-mail addresses are no longer displayed. We'll see how many complaints this generates. :-) Jon
When/where will the updated Privacy Policy be available?
When/where will the updated Privacy Policy be available? We're still working on that. All of the companies that are reviewing our privacy stuff are pretty demanding. Everything REALLY has to be spelled out. The current privacy policy is at: http://www.keil.com/company/privacy.htm A revision history of the privacy policy is found at: http://www.keil.com/company/privacy_changes.htm Jon
