Bitstream file download failure in MPS3

Hi Staff,

I am facing the problem on downloading step of the bit stream file in MPS3 board.

Below error messages are being printed.

Powering up system...
Switching on main power...
Configuring motherboard (rev C, var A)...

Reading Board File \MB\HBI0309C\AN524\an524_v1.txt

Configuring FPGA from file \MB\HBI0309C\AN524\524_t_1.bit
Address: 0x015E0000

ERROR: FPGA did not configure.
Failed to program FPGA...

Powering down...
Board powered down, use REBOOT to restart.

Can you please guide me to resolve this error?

Thank you

  • As a test, can you download and try to install AN533 to the board:

    https://developer.arm.com/downloads/view/AN533

If that works OK, but AN524 does not, then I believe the issue is due to the on-board battery expiring.

Please contact your point of purchase as the board will need to be repaired.

If you purchased directly from Arm, please raise a support case from the menu below.

  • Hi Ronan,

    Thank you for the advice.

As per your instructions I tried AN533 and it worked. See the logs below:

So as you suggested we will contact the point of purchase.

    Thank you

  • Hi Ronan,

    I have an additional question.

When I connect the MPS3 board using the debug USB cable, the V2M_MPS3 drive does not appear on my system.

Do you have any suggestions for resolving this issue?

This board has been in use for several months without any problems, and we have not encountered this behavior before. However, we are now unable to use the board, and flashing the FPGA file is also failing.

Thank you and expecting your advice on this.

  • Can you remove the micro SD Card (this contains the V2M_MPS3) file system, and (re)write it directly from your PC?
I suspect something has been corrupted there.

For the FPGA not configuring error - this will need to be manually repaired.

  • Hi Ronan,

Thank you for that advice related to SD card. I tried to format it and now it is showing up in the file system as expected.

As I informed earlier now I am in the process of contacting point of purchase for repairing the board.
