Bridging Education and Industry for Semiconductor Excellence

The Semiconductor Education Alliance (SEA) is a global collaboration platform uniting industry, academia, and governments to address the growing skills gap across the semiconductor ecosystem—through shared purpose, shared resources, and coordinated action.

As semiconductors become ever more central to economic resilience, technological innovation, and national strategy, the world faces a generational opportunity—and a critical need for skilled talent. Without a strong and adaptive education pipeline, progress across the value chain is at risk.

The Alliance works to align education, research, and workforce development with real-world industry needs—so innovation can thrive, and opportunity can be shared widely.

Our purpose

SoC Design

We co-create inclusive, scalable learning experiences rooted in industry practice—using shared tools, infrastructure, and communities of practice to build lasting capacity.

Amplify Change

By promoting shared resources, teaching assets, and frameworks, we help institutions and educators multiply their impact across geographies and disciplines.

Influence and Advocate

We engage with policymakers and funders to promote investment in computing and STEM education—and shape ecosystems where research, skills, and innovation can thrive.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

SoC Design

Shares best practices, tools, and teaching methods for system-on-chip (SoC) and hardware/software co-design.

  • Supports academic innovation in AI, embedded systems, and edge computing
  • Enables communities of practice and initiatives like SoC Labs and Edu Labs
  • Encourages retention and reuse of proven content to address recurring teaching challenges
  • Works to close a critical global skills gap in semiconductor design

Application Software Development

Strengthens teaching in application development for Arm-based platforms, covering embedded, mobile, and cloud systems.

  • Connects educators and industry professionals
  • Focus areas include toolchains, dev environments, and AI deployment
  • Supports Developer Labs—hands-on, challenge-based learning environments
  • Equips students with skills that directly map to industry needs

Workforce Skills Development

Aligns training and education with evolving workforce requirements across the semiconductor domain.

  • Develops and promotes Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) frameworks
  • Guides curriculum design and workforce policy
  • Builds clearer pathways from education to employment
  • Helps ensure learning outcomes match the competencies employers actually need

A Model for Sustainable Collaboration

We prioritize openness, mutual benefit, and action—connecting ideas, institutions, and individuals who are building the semiconductor workforce of the future.

  • Global and Cross-Sector: Industry, universities, nonprofits, and government working side-by-side
  • Scalable and Systemic: Reusable, modular content and infrastructure that can be adapted globally
  • Inclusive by Design: From K–12 STEM outreach to postgraduate training and reskilling, the Semiconductor Education Alliance aims to broaden participation at every level

Membership and Collaboration

The Semiconductor Education Alliance is a community of contributors. Members actively collaborate on tools, content, strategy, and policy to grow the global semiconductor talent pipeline.

Whether you are an educator, industry leader, or policymaker, the Semiconductor Education Alliance provides a framework to co-create the skills, knowledge, and innovation that the future depends on.
