It’s not easy to stay competitive in today’s fast-moving service provider market. Telcos and managed service providers need every edge they can get. They’re looking for versatile, multi-technology uCPE white box options that make it easy for them to employ technology that can power the services they need—and smoothly fits within their operational environment and TCO contraints.
The Arm ecosystem partners are stepping up to fill the void with a new uCPE offering announced today at the SDN World Congress in October. Together with Arm and NXP Semiconductors, Telco Systems is bringing to market a uCPE white box solution, powered by Telco Systems’ NFVTime software platform.
NFVTime is an open uCPE software platform that includes a hardware-agnostic NFVi-OS and a uCPE management and orchestration (MANO) layer. It gives service providers out-of-the-box support for SD-WAN, managed router, managed security virtual network functions(VNFs). Providers can also provision additional VNFs remotely at any time for additional services and capabilities.
This ready-to-deploy solution is based on NXP’s LS2008A system-on-chip (SoC), incorporating eight (8) Arm Cortex-A72 64bit CPUs, coupled with NXP value-add hardware acceleration and advanced security technology based on Arm TrustZone technology. Together, Arm and NXP innovation deliver efficient, high-performance NFV services to end users with compelling TCO numbers.
The uCPE box will come pre-configured with Trend Micro's VNFS vSecurity solution and the 6WIND’s Turbo Router vRouter to provide comprehensive out-of-the-box capability as well as demonstrate the capabilities of the device to run multiple VNFs.
The uCPE is the latest milestone demonstrating Arm’s commitment to working with ecosystem partners to develop the open, flexible solutions that carriers need to compete in a dynamic environment.
You can see demonstrations of the new uCPE solution in the Telco Systems booth C9, NXP booth B37, as well as in the Arm Ecosystem Zone in the main aisle B27-28-33-34.
For developers and partners looking for online communities and resources, Arm plays an active role engaging with our ecosystem. We work closely with Packet, the leading provider of automated bare metal for developers, to contribute to WorksOnArm.com, a public source of information to help end users and developers expand the available ecosystem working on powerful Arm64-based platforms.
In addition, the Arm ecosystem operates a portal resource for developers to get a wealth of information such as solution providers, use case-based solutions, software and hardware sourcing, latest news and much more. Check out the Arm Infrastructure Developer Community.
Arm also offers a rich set of development resources for the network and cloud infrastructure community on the Arm Infrastructure Developer Community.
