Lawrence Neal has been exploring and developing software in different languages on various systems since his early teens, starting with Fortran in the sixties on an IBM 1620/1710 scientific computer. His recent projects have included embedded firmware applications for Animated Neon Lighting and developing an In-the-Cloud platform using Amazon Web Services. He’s also designed hardware devices based on a COTS (commonly-off-the-shelf) approach to support the software he writes, using a variety of CAD platforms encompassing discrete, integrated and modular component modeling.
Currently living in Phoenix, Arizona, because he likes hot weather in the summer, warm weather in the winter; and not being a cold-weather person; when he is not building software, he is probably enjoying his other passions, like playing the guitar (blues & acid rock) or reading a good theoretical eBook (quantum electromagnetics or philosophy of mathematics).
He maintains a journal of creative thoughts thru-out the day, which include date and time… referencing ideas acquired from the world-wide-web internet as bookmarked for later retrieval; and documents most all other activities he may be involved in.
A usual morning wake-up begins with a check of the body’s blood-pressure, pulse-rate, weight, and temperature, along with a call to nature. Then a routine of stretching exercises, and a bike ride around the neighborhood if the weather permits.
