"Get an electron microscope and sand off the top of your
processor."

There's a nice simulation of a CPU executing code at:

http://visual6502.org/

It might only be a 6502 (ahhh, happy memories), but it shows
what's going on under the hood pretty well.

Get an electron microscope and sand off the top of your
processor.

But first you need to get some HARD WARE.

Unless you settle for the Keil simulator and just debug the code
using a faked processor.
