JTAG BASED BOARD

Hi all

Are there any 8051 JTAG based boards ?

I want to avoid the expensive ICEs and programmers .

Thanks

  • There are not many 8051s with on-board debug and, of the ones that do have it, it's likely to use a proprietary interface, rather than JTAG.

    SiLabs has already been mentioned;

    Atmel have some;

    Wiznet have some.

    Apart from on-chip debug, there are plenty of 8051s that are In-System Programmable (ISP) - so programmers are not required.

    If JTAG (or just on-chip debug) is your key concern, have you considered ARM Cortex-M0/3...?
