P.S. I'm bored
How is this weapon called, captain?
It looks so small for something targeting ships.
Looks more like a short/medium range AAM or maybe something hunting radiating targets like a HARM or Shrike.
I'd love to see what you've worked on. I'd find that interesting. You Got Any? At All?
Do you really want to know? If you ask nicely I'll tell you.
Dear Jack Sprat,
Will you please tell us what you've worked on? Maybe some photos; and ad a 'touch of proof' that you did it so *those* people won't be skeptical.
Thanks,
One more thing - post a picture of yourself holding a fish above your head and I'll tell you...
I smacked his hand away just because he deserved it.
Why does that just not surprise me?
Vince, whoever you are, whatever your name, say after me: sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me
Well, I don't know. You've called me some terrible names over the years and here's you comforting the supposedly big angry military man who claims to be responsible for developing weapons of death, all because I've hurt his feelings a bit!
Awwww - sweet!
The thing is, what can be interesting and cool to the one spending a huge amount of effort on can be dreary dull to someone else.
The realisation that not one single member of the human race is even slightly interested in any of the things that engineers do for a living is pretty much a prerequisite for the job. A complete lack of ego (and ideally a good sense of self-ridicule) is very useful in reconciling this fact.
If you ask nicely I'll tell you.
I did, and you didn't.
A complete lack of ego...
Time to make another APA session appointment.
supposedly big angry military man who claims to be responsible for developing weapons of death...
Supposedly, its better than *them* acquiring the weapons of death first. You're welcome. Thanks.
Most of the EU depends upon the USA for their primary defense system(s). Most of those socialist nations have a 'military' just as a social program, and an investment in R&D. The UK and Isreal actually have a military capable of staving off a first round attack. But guess who 'gets' to sustain the defense?
Major (USA) foriegn aid comes from defense contracts: I've worked with them and competed against them. So, again Jack; you are welcome. Know what a Buzz Bomb is? Well today's Buzz Bombs are far more deadly and accurate. In WWII I doubt if it was projected that Buzz Bomb attacks were going to happen, that the UK would protest the very idea of a Buzz Bomb defense system.
I guess I'm ranting about that because I detect a disdain for the military and the 'weapons of death' industry.
Our sticks and stones are far more powerful than *them* and *they* know it. The complainers and anti-Big Stick people will indeed use their Mighty Weapon: Slander and Ridicule. While the terrorists (and bad nations) ignore such chatter and are willing to attack school busses and shopping malls. I'd rather use my 'talents' to kill those little *^%#$@s before they "Crush Little Kids Who Adorn the Boardwalk."
Just the fish above the head picture - and all will be revealed...

They run a 'kook of the month' award on Usenet. It's full of people who post stuff like this.
Vince,
I'm risking invoking other people's wrath, but I really think you are a champion of freedom, common sense and virtue. I mean it! Good speed!
P.S
I'm sure Jack is going to quote my closing statement for some remark about my mental stability of something like that. Thank you, it is not in danger.
Ache, I meant "God speed!" of course !
Guys like good old Vince stormed the beaches of France on D-Day, disregarding their own lives for a greater cause. Guys like him have and will charge despite of machine guy fire to protect freedom. Believe me, I can tell. And no, I am not naive, and I know there is always an underlying interest involved. Of course. But in the end, despite the far-liberal protestations, it comes down to the good guys (that's most of us) against the "bad guys". I don't know about you, but I want Vince on my side!
Tamir,
Thanks for being on "my side" and all of those other nice things you said. I have the greatest respect for those who actually storm the beaches. I've known a few personally. VERY impressive people indeed. Nothing like how they get portrayed on TV or in the movies... and in the 'minds' of liberals (I'll stop the politics now: Keil is kind enough not to just delete this entire thread).
I'm still waiting for Jack to describe his 'proud moments' in embedded history.
One more thing - post a picture of yourself holding a fish above your head and I'll tell you
since you have often critisited my language, I want to ask if this is a rewording of "NO" that is acceptable in the can.
Erik
This seems to be a forum that worships the "warrior" or Type A type personality...
Since I have been "challenged" by the so-called "warrior" by the name of "Cpt Vince", who, by the way, is some disturbed reference to a suicided individual (whose reference only intensifies the question of his real legimatcy), I provide you with my history:
My background is one of military service. I served during the early 1980's while instability caused a great deal of unease throughout the world. I was involved with a number of incidents which caused rapid responses for which I was a part of.
I have done my service and do not believe I need to justify my current position with some pogue who thinks he has more "cohonas" than me. In fact, I think he has none, regardless of what he claims to have designed.
In fact, I challenge him to prove that he was in any kind of peril during his time in service.I will guess that he is nothing more than a REMF that wants to make a statement for his legacy by posting in this forum.
I have personally progressed my career since leaving the service to develop or contribute to the following released systems:
-Automated wire-guided automated systems -elevator systems and control -digital weights and measures. -telemetry systems -GSM base stations -RFID systems -Thermodynamic detection systems. -PLC controllers
I continue to learn, and enjoy this forum. I know who the contributors are and respect all of you. I hope that you can all provide the help that is needed for the next generation of engineers that will soon take our place. Cpy Vince needs to "retire" and now...
For you Cpt Vince I say a promotion is justified:
...To Major Idiot.
[Sorry to extend this thread more, but I've been attacked, and my ego is too fragile to let it go]
I don't recall challenging "My 2 Cents" but I did challenge "Jack Sprat." Am I to infer you are one and the same?
Yup, my "disturbing reference" has a lot to do with the corruption in Washington DC and the synchophantic media... and you can't find a better example than Vince Foster.
I'm glad and honored you served our/your country Mr. My 2 Cents. And I have great respect for those who saw action.
I never said I had more "cahonas" or that I was in any action myself. Call it a REMF if you want, but my career has taken me places where helping the front-line was what was important to me.
The closest I came to 'action' was during the Bosnian War... almost had to go there to repair some equipment in a 'hot-zone'. Yes, almost: but didn't.
As far as 'peril' goes, Al Quida made a point to show a widget which showed who I worked for, and the company was on alert: yes, big woop.
Its a good thing that after serving your country (don't know if you are US based or across teh pond), that you went on to help in wire-guided systems, and other such embedded feats.
As far as my retirement goes... I'm still in the embedded world, and haven't been promoted to Major Idiot yet. But at least I'm in the company of Major Smart people.
--Data Acquisition Equipment (CDP1802 based) --S100 computers (NASA even purchased those) --Stinger Missiles (for MICOM) --UAVs --Predator UAV (for the CIA for Bosnia) --ARDEC research for GLP --Other (DARPA) --DARPA research projects (various) --EFOG-M --Other (DARPA) --Brilliant Anti-Tank --LOCAAS --Other (DARPA) --BOA --Other (ARDEC) --Sidewinder AIM-9X --AAAV --Industrial Equipment --High-Volume Consumer Electronics --Other (DARPA) --XM982 --XM1111 --AGS --ERGM --Other (ARDEC) --Industrial Equipment --R&D Bio-Medical --"Other" again
Most of those "others" I can't remember what I'm not supposed to know.
P.S. Note how I didn't make anti-"My 2 Cents" remarks?
That's up to you, Vince. Or would you prefer Cyril? Or Pipo?
I tried really hard to understand this without success. It's a 'yes with conditions', but I'm at a loss with the 'acceptable in the can' bit.
Jack Sprat,
What is up with you? Stay focused here, and explain some of your proud moments. I did ask nicely: per request.
So please, with sugar on top, what have you been up to? (Said differently, why should we take Jack Sprat's advice over say "Cpt. Vince's"?)
out of the sardine can came: Will you please tell us what you've worked on? .... One more thing - post a picture of yourself holding a fish above your head and I'll tell you...
I replied to that post (which is directly above in the list: since you have often critisited my language, I want to ask if this is a rewording of "NO" that is acceptable in the can.
Bending that reply in neon: requiring someone to "post a picture of yourself holding a fish above your head" is, in my opinion, a silly, but absolute, way to say "NO"
Let me help you. Here is a list of accolades of the sardine:
1. Automatic sardine can opener. 2. Embedded forum spammer. 3. Wrote the firmware for a sonar guided sardine fishing boat.
Etc. Nothing that even reaches your knees, Vince.
I'm focussed, Vince, I'm focussed. I'm nearly ready. I just need the fish above the head picture. You can disguise your face if you want, then the pentagon will never know you talked. Your secret is safe with me. Pipo and Cyril agree - you need to know. You shall not be denied the truth.
Bending that reply in neon:
No, it's yes, but what about the can?
I just need the fish above the head picture.
before you know it, there will be a sardine under Vince's foot (I think he said he worked on the "Predetor"...). You are hopeless and not very funny, sardinovich.
Predator instead of Predetor.
I asked if it was appropiate where you live
Spelling corrections in direct follow-up posts. Now, why does that give a strong feeling that Pipo isn't sitting too far away from Tamir :)
I was summoned, but refuse to comment in fear of a UAV strike (but I'm on the right side, unless there is something we don't know!). Maybe they can send out their UAVs to clash instead?
"Now, why does that give a strong feeling that Pipo isn't sitting too far away from Tamir :)"
Or Cactus Blip ;)
UAVs.
The Israelis 'pioneered' the UAVs and when the USA decided to get serious about them they had a plan.
A 3-point plan: Long-Range, Short-Range and Close-Range UAVs
They chose the Short-Range to set the standard for the LR and SR platforms. McDonnel Douglas vs Israeli Air Industries.
The fly-off competition was hands-down McDonnell Douglas' UAV system. (Best computer systems I've ever seen). But IAI won the $700M USD contract. "Known as foreign aid."
IAI turned around and purchased McDonnell Douglas equipment since it was way better. IAI had a little accident with one of their UAVs.
They launched it without any real brains, and it flew from [redacted] into the shores of Mexico. IAI asked the US navy to retrieve it.
The USN said "Nope: not our waters."
IAI Asked Mexico to retrieve it.
Mexico said "Yes, but you'll foot the bill."
Never say yes to that: Mexico charged too much and it went into litigation.
Meanwhile, the Bosnian war is kicking up in a bad way. The CIA needs a UAV, so they hire General Atomics to build an aircraft.
General Atomics builds the Predator, and they used MY stuff in it.
The Predator now establishes "The Standard" for UAVs. $700M in USD down the drain... well I'm sure IAI benefited.
McDonalds.
The McDonalds 'pioneered' the burgers and when the kids decided to get serious about them they had a plan.
A 3-point plan: Supersize-Range, Large-Range and Regular-Range burgers.
They chose the Large-Range to set the standard for the LR and SR platforms. Burger King vs McDonalds.
The flip-off competition was hands-down Burger King's burger system. (Best burger systems I've ever seen). But McDonalds won the $7 USD contract. "Known as minimum wage."
McDonalds turned around and purchased Burger King equipment since it was way better. McDonalds had a little accident with one of their burgers.
They launched it without any real meat, and it fried from [mechanically rendered] into the belly of America. McDonalds asked the US food administration to retrieve it.
The USFA said "Nope: not real food."
McDonalds asked America to retrieve it.
America said "Yes, but you'll foot the bill."
Never say yes to that: America charged too much and it went into litigation.
Meanwhile, the Burger war is kicking up in a bad way. The CIA needs a McDonalds, so they hire Admiral Beefsteak to build a mincer.
Admiral Beefsteak builds Arnie, and he used MY stuff in it.
Arnie now establishes "The Standard" for burgers. $7 in USD down the drain... well I'm sure America benefited.
Burgers. The cornerstone of a good conspiracy. -- George Bush, circa one of his better days.
This just gets weirder and weirder.
Ok, you've rumbled me. I admit everything.
