Hello everybody,
I am monitoring a status of a sensor interfaced to P89V51RD2(8 bit
controller)and want to send a SMS to any mobile number fed into the
controller. But i am not getting the GSM modems in which i will insert
a sim card and can be interfaced

RE: Interfacing modem to microcontroller

"Can anybody of u provide me some links or Lists of GSM modems
which can be selected for this purpose."

Trying to keep such a list up-to-date would be a thankless and,
probably, fruitless task.

Just use your normal internet search engine, and search for "GSM
modem".
Also try "embedded GSM modem".

Then narrow the results down to the ones that available in your
locality, and meet any other specific requirements that you may
have.

Such a list would be very long - especially since there are a huge
number of obsolete models out there, that can be had for a low cost,
but isn't suitable for mass-production.

Most mobile phone manufactureras (and a number of other
manufacturers) produces GSM modules for embedded usage, i.e. supposed
mount directly on a PCB. They normally interface with a uC using a
TTL-level serial interface or USB.

Besides that, all better mobile phones may be used as GSM modems
with a suitable adapter cable.

Contact one of the distributors for the major brands, and don't
forget that you also need to get the required documentation of the
command set.
