They do not allow posting.

I does not make sense to me, if people want to post to a thread
it is because the issue was not solved

If anyone are looking for a solution 3 months or more after they
posted, I doubt they are still employed.

Erik

PS plese give a link to the thread you want to add to, I am
curious

Oh Well, you can't please all of the people all of the time!

At least now you know why it is the way it is...

I does not make sense to me, if people want to post to a thread it
is because the issue was not solved, may be that a member wants to
post a solution or simply to refresh the status in order to remind
(usually to technical support) that the problem was not solved.

In my case I wanted to continue an issue dated March 2006 (
http://www.keil.com/forum/docs/thread7382.asp
) in order to agree with the initiator that the issue should be
solved and not ignored by proposing unacceptable workarounds.

So there you have it!

"... how the original writers receive email notifications
regarding old messages?"

Maybe they never did receive e-mail notifications. You can't rely
on writers receiving e-mail because it's an optional setting chosen
by the writer.

They won't.

Probably on the assumption that the thread is so old that they're
no longer interested.

There was one particular thread that kept getting resurrected: the
original post was something like, "send me I2C code" and every term
there'd be a new set of "me too" posts.

I did it, but how the original writers receive email notifications
regarding old messages?

Aren't they all really old ones?

If you want to refer to such a thread in a new one, just give a
link to it - copy & paste from your browser's address bar
