I am using the MSC1210Y5 for my project. The probelm that I find with using this product is that the most of the ICs just fail to get programmed!!!!I am using TI downloader for the programming. As much as 50% of the ICs are not gettin programmed!!!The downloader just flashes a message "No Response to Initail CR"...Anyone else facing the same problem??
Perhaps you can find the CD, on TI's site it suggests you can interact via a Terminal, could likely automate that with some programming skills..

hello, I just saw your post and I wonder if you still have the tI downloader software becuase I need it and I can´t find it?
I disable the Watch Dog Timer in the Main program, but first the program should get loaded in the controller.Does the Watchdog Timer give an interrupt in the Programming mode???I dont think so....
"i am using MAX813 for an active reset in my circuit" How do you ensure that the watchdog doesn't cause a reset during downloading?
1 more question...Does the In Circuit Programming Option in the MSC1210 require adiitional pins to be used for entering the programming mode???Right now I am using the Serial Port 1 pins (Rx & Tx) pins for communication with the Serial port & the ALE and PSEN pins for the Serial Mode of Programming. Is it also required to use additional pins for PC communication like DTR,DSR & other such standard RS-232 signals???
Thanx eric....but right now i am using MAX813 for an active reset in my circuit!!Problem still persists...
can't help you with the device you use, but many other chips have reported similar things when RC reset was used. try installing a supervisor for the reset Erik
