is there anyone who want to sell his licence for Cx51 development tools? is there any web site that do such thing - market for used tools, old license ?
I'm not sure that the Keil licence actually allows that; ie, it may be non-transferrable You could always look on e-bay; but beware - just cos someone offers it for sale doesn't necessarily mean it's a legal copy...
I have seen somewhere the Keil policy re second hand tools - try a search here. Be aware that if the version sold is old you may end up with your purchase price and the Keil charge for the update totalling more than the price for purchasing the new. So 1) verify that what you buy is legally owned (ask Keil) 2) ask Keil what the charge is for a transfer of licence and update is 3) decide Erik
I think you need a current valid licence in order to install the tools - so there would be no point in buying an out-of-date licence (unless it came ready installed on a PC!) Again, check with Keil.
I think you need a current valid licence in order to install the tools... Does this cause problems when development hardware is upgraded? I was recently treated to a new computer and found some difficulty transfering my C166 installation from my old computer - support for this particular licence ended in September 2004. Compiling worked fine, but the linker acted as if it was in demo mode, limiting the code size to 0x1000 bytes. Then after a few days of fiddling with it, it started working again as if nothing was wrong. I never did find out exactly what the problem was. Is this something other people have seen? Or was I doing something wrong by attempting to transfer a licence? I fear my colleagues will suffer similar problems when they receive new machines. (Sorry if I'm going OT!) Paul.
There will, in many cases be problems transferring licences, not because of the transfer, but because the PC the licence is transferred to run a different version of Windows. This, of course will be true espacfially if the Windows version is younger than the transferred licence. Erik
