Hi, I'm working on my project and it involves driving a servo motor using an MCB900 board. Is it possible to directly connect the servo motor to one of the ports or do I have to use an interface like an amplifier. Your response will be appreciated. Ade
Hi Erik, The MCB900 board is an 8051 microcontroller board basically used for training. The servo motor requires a voltage of 4.8v to 6v to drive it. Also, if I may ask, what is the output voltage of the 8051 ports.
I missed that one, a distributor even gave me one of the MCB900s. Is it possible to directly connect the servo motor to one of the ports or do I have to use an interface like an amplifier. The answer is 99% NO and for the last 1% risky. There are strong EMF forces involved in driving a motor and no uC I know of is designed to withstand that. Also is this a 3V motor? haven't seen many of those. For motor drivers I would check Allegro semiconductors, that is their specialty. Erik

is that not a motorola chip? if so - wrong forum If not - please provide a link Erik
