Hello, I'm considering using one of those 8051 microcontroller with USB integrated in it. May I know which of 8051 chips should I use? And can I have an example code on how to program the USB part? Regards Leto
"You can read the articles online here: http://www.eix.co.uk/Ethernet/USB/Welcome.htm" Note that there's a mistake in Fig 5 on that page (it was also in the printed magazine). Here's my one which actually works: http://www.antronics.co.uk/usbmod2
Yes, I'm sorry! Triscend have recently re-organised their website, and I quoted an old link. (actually, it might've been correct at the time I posted it)
Triscend App Note AN19 describes using an external USB chip with their E5 8051-based device. It includes a sample PC app and sample 8051 code: http://www.triscend.com/products/an19.pdf Hi Andrew, The address of the site should be: http://www.triscend.com/products/Documentation/an19.pdf Rgds, Geert
"There have been articles in Electronics World" You can read the articles online here: http://www.eix.co.uk/Ethernet/USB/Welcome.htm (also give details of how to obtain printed copies)
See the Triscend App Note cited earlier. The Elektor articles mentioned earlier are using a Cypress 8051+USB device. Several other vendors offer 8051s with USB - try the Parametric search in the Device Database: http://www.keil.com/dd/parm_search.asp
See the FTDI site - they have modules & drivers which can get you started with USB really quickly. http://www.ftdichip.com/ There have been articles in Electronics World over this year using these modules - well worth a read. Elektor is currently running USB articles (in the UK edition, anyway).

not exactly what you're after, but Triscend App Note AN19 describes using an external USB chip with their E5 8051-based device. It includes a sample PC app and sample 8051 code: http://www.triscend.com/products/an19.pdf Might give you some useful tips? You should also visit the developer section at http://www.usb.org Have you looked at the USB pages on this site? http://www.keil.com/usb/
